What makes Ahero different from Executive Health?

Ahero is a complement to those programs and doesn't really compete with them. Some executive health and concierge medicine programs partner with us to offer the ACTIVE program assessment and health team service to complement their existing practices. The most important differences are that we blend medical and allied health care services, and we are not confined to offering you care in one specific location. We integrate services seamlessly between local clinics, telehealth and digital therapeutics, so you get what you need, where you need it, by the most appropriate healthcare provider for your situation.

What makes Ahero different from Concierge Medicine? Do you work with Concierge medicine?

Concierge medicine means that a physician is focusing their practice entirely around a specific group of patients, and access to that physician is the service you are paying for. For some people, that's perfect. For others, they are looking to work with a team of providers, where access to their physician is among the services offered. Ahero can partner with your concierge physician to have them lead your health team, we can offer concierge physicians health team solutions, or you can work with Ahero instead of a concierge medicine program when lifestyle management and navigating the healthcare system is more important than having an expert on-call for you 24 hours a day.

What types of Doctors and Allied Care professionals can I access in your program?

The Ahero program isn't limited, so whomever you need to access for special attention, care or a second opinion, we are able to help locate a professional that offers that service within our network, and link with them to help assist you. Our current team and network include but isn't limited to Pain Management Physicians (specialists or fellowship trained Anaesthesia), Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation, Neurology, Family Medicine, Plastic Surgeons, Dermatology, Chiropractors, Occupational Health and Medicine, Nurse Practitioners, Physiotherapists, Registered Massage Therapy, Kinesiology/Personal Training, Psychologists, Social Workers and Psychotherapists.

How do you address privacy issues?

We take privacy VERY seriously. All health information databases with your personal information are compliant with our most stringent privacy laws. Ahero does not provide all of your health information to all of your providers. We only share the information that is relevant to each provider subject to your consent, and we have a very comprehensive privacy policy, which is also available through this website. If you have additional questions around the privacy of your data, please feel free to contact us for further information.

What happens in the event of an Emergency?

We are NOT an emergency service, can not admit you into an emergency room faster than any other patient, and while we can work with insurers and your family to help you make plans, this is not part of the service. We can and will make your critical health information available to hospitals and emergency room practitioners when requested, and when you have information on file related to DNA test results for medication or nutrition management. When you have an emergency, always call 911 and focus on local emergency services first. Then let our care team know what is happening and we are happy to assist you upon discharge.

What if we don’t like the service?

In order for us to continually improve, we want to know what you did not like about the program, how we can improve our service, and we will offer a full refund for our program and services in the first 30 days of commencing with us. If you are not able to see value in our programs quickly, we don't want you to feel compelled to work with us.

What does this cost?

We currently charge posted rates for each provider we work with, as well as a small additional fee for care coordination. For disability patients, we do not (at this time) standardize care through set value-based contracts as we do not believe they are always the most cost-effective for the client or the patient. We are certainly open to care contracts and licensing our technology to support existing employers and networks, charging a license fee for the technology and assessment, and a small premium for care coordination through our platform and network. Contact us should you wish to discuss this option further.

Does my insurance cover this program? Does it cover the care I receive through it?

Your insurance provider MAY cover the costs of the program, and the program is accepted by some Health Spending Accounts (HSA). Check with your insurance provider directly. For your employer, and for you, this should be a tax-deductible program. (remove extra space here) The care you receive through the ACTIVE program is all offered through registered healthcare providers and should be covered by most insurance plans. Some of our clinic partners are approved providers by third party insurers, and some are not approved, but are able to work with your insurance provider subject to a pre-approval process. All claims run through our program and can either be billed directly to your insurer or are eligible for reimbursement.
